Summer is here!
We’ve managed to get through the craziness of the end of the school year (which can be super busy whether you have kids in school or not). We have survived the Calgary Stampede and now we’re looking forward to the remaining 6 weeks of summer bliss. At least, that’s the image we have in our heads.
However, the reality is, summer bliss isn’t just going to happen on its own. Like anything we want to achieve or create in our lives, we have to plan and take action steps to make it happen. My simple plan for you is to spend time outdoors!
While this may seem like an obvious thing to do in the summer, unless you have a dog that you’re walking outside every day, most people continue their winter routines on into the summer.
Watching your favorite series on Netflix, getting hooked on new summer shows or watching sports on TV are all easy habits that keep you indoors. It may take some effort to get out of your favorite indoor chair and move it out onto the deck.
Let’s take this one step further, and just be more active!
Gardening, going for walks in the park or even a bike ride around your neighborhood are all good places to start.
Of course, if you’re already into camping and hiking, you’ve got this covered. However, you may not know about the research revealing the many health benefits that occur when we spend time outdoors.
Some of these include improving short term memory, decreasing stress and even improving the eyesight in children and adolescents!
