Chiropractors Calgary
Your Chinook Chiropractic Team
Are you looking for a chiropractor, acupuncturist or a naturopath in Calgary? Active Back to Health has skilled practitioners who can help you in all of the above treatments.
What Is Chiropractic?
Doctors of chiropractic diagnose, treat and help prevent musculoskeletal (bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, joints and connective tissues) conditions and the effect they have on the nervous system.
They do not prescribe drugs or perform surgery — however, they may make a referral to medical specialists for such treatment when appropriate. They also counsel patients regarding nutrition, lifestyle and exercise. Essentially, chiropractic care is all about realigning your body so that it functions at its best.
Our chiropractors in South Calgary are primary health care practitioners, which means a referral from your family doctor is not necessary for you to receive treatment. They complete at least seven years of accredited post-secondary education and participate in supervised clinical training during their last year of schooling.
The chiropractors at Active Back to Health are highly skilled and can help you with any number of issues, including:
- Optimizing spinal health
- Managing a workplace injury or other personal injury (involving a motor vehicle accident claim or otherwise)
- Muscle or joint pain
The experienced chiropractors at Active Back to Health will come up with a personalized treatment plan to decrease your pain, increase your function and maintain your health long-term. See our Calgary Chiropactic page.
How Did Chiropractic Start?
Chiropractic care has a rich history, dating back over a hundred years. In 1895, Dr. Daniel David Palmer was the first person to deliver a chiropractic adjustment. Since that time, chiropractic has continued to grow and evolve.
Dr. Palmer founded the Palmer School of Chiropractic. This is where students first learned about chiropractic techniques and how to apply them. This institute also became the leading facility in research and studies regarding chiropractic care. There are now numerous chiropractic schools worldwide, all contributing to the continued growth and evolution of safe and effective chiropractic techniques.
Today, chiropractic is a primary intervention when it comes to eliminating pain — specifically in the spine and musculoskeletal system. Globally, millions of people benefit from chiropractic care. At Active Back to Health, we would love to become your local Chinook chiropractic clinic, helping you gain all the advantages that chiropractic care has to offer.
What To Expect
At your first visit, your chiropractor will conduct a thorough history and physical examination to determine the cause of your chief complaint and whether or not chiropractic care is suitable to you. From there, individualized treatment plans typically consist of a combination of modalities, including spinal mobilization and manipulation, soft tissue therapy, exercise prescription and education. Each plan is unique to the patient's situation.
Our chiropractic doctors further individually specialize in various adjunctive techniques such as the use of cold laser therapy, gait analysis and orthotics, Graston Technique, acupuncture, visceral manipulation and BodyTalk therapy. Please refer to their biographies to find out more about each practitioner.
