Kyla is a registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She has experience in counseling individuals, families and children. For the majority of Kyla’s professional career she has worked within schools. She began as a Family School Liaison Counselor with Palliser Regional schools in 2008. In this role, she worked with children ages 6-17 in a number of different schools. Kyla resigned from this role at the beginning of 2015 and has recently become employed by Alberta Health Services as a mental health therapist with the school based mental health program serving a variety of schools within CBE to address the mental health concerns of students.
Pertaining to private practice, Kyla began seeing clients in this capacity in 2010 and has enjoyed primarily working with women of all ages in areas related to anxiety, stress, depression, general mental health check-ups, self-esteem, transitions, personal growth and forgiveness.
Kyla’s approach to therapy is based mainly on interventions from solution focused theoretical orientation. Family Systems theory underlies her approach with clients as a framework for understanding the context in which concerns exist. Kyla also draws on other therapeutic modalities as they seem suitable to the concerns of the individual.
In her free time Kyla enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. She loves being in nature and staying active. She is up for anything and especially loves running, yoga, skiing and hiking. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with loved ones.
