Survived Stampede? – Now It’s Time To Detox

With stampede coming to a close it is now time to recover from all of the festivities that you indulged in for the past 10 days. For some people a detox from all the food and alcohol is required. But, also keep in mind that a lack of sleep has a negative affect on you as well.

Here are my tips for recovering quickly from the festivities.

  1. For the next week eliminate alcohol and caffeinated drinks as these tend to dehydrate the body. If you are a classic 1-2 coffee a day person and cannot give that up, don’t worry! You just need to make sure to drink 2 cups of water per coffee to make up the difference.
  2. Stay hydrated! A great way to rehydrate is having lemon water in the morning. Squeeze half a fresh lemon into 8 ounces of water first thing in the morning to balance your pH and get your body feeling great.
  3. The stampede grounds are full of delicious but very processed and sugar filled treats. If you indulged this past week you can reset your body by making sure to cut the sugar, salt and processed foods. Instead focus on lots of lean sources of protein, whole grains, fruits and LOTS of vegetables! The top vegetables known to detox your body are beets, cilantro, leafy greens, cucumber, and garlic – so eat up!!
  4. Get lots of sleep! The healing power of sleep is amazing for our bodies. Our bodies LOVE routine so get back to a regular bedtime and make sure you are getting at least 7 hours of sleep.

Finally, if you had too much sun (because the temperatures did hover around 35 degrees some days) make sure that you are taking care of any sun burn you may have, and keep cool this week.

Allow your body to fully recover from the stress that you put it through during the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth! Stampede is a really fun time, but there is a reason that there are 344 days in between.
